The fight or flight response is our body's natural response to perceived threats or dangers. We need it for survival. We would not be here without it.

The problem is the body cannot always tell the difference between a physical threat or an emotional threat. It can also not always tell the difference between a present threat and a future threat.

So the fight or flight system can become triggered even if there is no physical threat. In such cases, you can tell your body you are safe by breathing in a calm and deliberate way.
