Smoking Cessation

To Quit Smoking
Is Quite Simple

Not much to it
Just two steps:

Step 1. Decide to Quit
Step 2. Celebrate

The second step actually takes care of itself
Once you get the first step right

Most people do not get the first step right
Which is why Clinical Hypnotherapy is generally about targeting Step 1

I wonder if it is really fair to call smokers: “Our Modern Day Lepers”?
Just because they are quarantined to the smelliest back-corners
And looked upon with both pity and disgust

After all
Smoking is a Mindfulness exercise
The wonderful out-breath visually rendered
In a mesmorizing stream of grey
Passing through your lips
As the smoke rises from your fingers
Those white ghost-like swirling snakes surround you
Charm you
As you ponder
So deeply ponder
The insights
The ideas
The solutions
And then the smell
And the ultimate feeling of shame

Wash your hands
Spray your breath
It all didn’t really happen

There is also a serious health issue to ponder
Perhaps it is not right to let children, or adolescents, or loved ones
See you endorsing such choices

Perhaps smoking is best done
In moderation
In the privacy of your own back yard?

Either way
This is certainly
A conversation that is worth having…
